Scotland's Independence

Gordon Brown to join 'Dream Team'

Gordon Brown has been asked to Join a “Dream Team” to lead the ‘Anti-independence Campaign’ along with former Scottish Tory leader Annabel Goldie, Scottish Labour leader Johaan Lamont, Sir Alex Ferguson and Alistair Darling.

According to an article in the Scotsman a senior Tory source said: “If the referendum is to be won by those who support Scotland remaining part of the UK, then it’s essential that Labour voters turn out in large numbers to support the UK.”

A senior Scottish Tory source seized on Mr Park’s claims that Mr Salmond would be “apprehensive” about facing the former Labour leader during the referendum campaign, to say that there was “no-one better placed” than Mr Brown to attract the support of Labour voters to the anti-independence cause and that the former prime minister’s intervention in the campaign “could be crucial” to the result of the referendum in autumn 2014.

” Mr. Park commented on “Gordon Brown increasing Labour’s share of the vote in Scotland and is still popular adding, “Gordon Brown is potentially more popular than Alex Salmond.

It is in Labour’s interest that Scotland remains in the UK, while politically it will benefit the Tories if Scotland broke away from the UK.

If Scotland were to become independent, it would mean the removal of all Scottish MPs from both Houses of Parliament, which would make it virtually impossible for Labour to ever get a majority in an election.

Alex Salmond is banking on the EU welcoming the Independent Scotland with open arms because it is a rich nation.
I wrote a blog Scotland the Brave in which I referenced some of the conditions needed to be a member of the EU, which make it obvious that it won’t be as easy as Alex Salmond thinks to join the EU.

One other condition not outlined in that blog, is the
fact that whoever joins the EU has to adopt the Euro. Bearing in mind that it is common knowledge that Scotland will keep the GB Pound, this is just one more stumbling block to overcome.

The EU as well as the rest of the UK know, oil reserves are getting less in the North Sea, and this will reduce revenues over time.

Alex Salmond is also expecting being welcomed with open arms by NATO. Mr Salmond has said he will not allow nuclear subs to use Fastlane, this is part of a non negotiable agreement with NATO that the deterrents are stationed at Fastlane.

Alex Salmond is expecting changing the EU and NATO just to achieve his desire to go down in history as the man who took Scotland to Independence.
One thing he has overlooked is the number of EU citizens who will be able to come to Scotland to share in the wealth he talks about.

Catch Up Time

RFT Express #1 for hanging garment deliveries in UK and Europe

This is the first weekend off this year, and time to catch up with the blogging.
August has been our busiest month for a long time, apart rom the normal workload, the new seasons football and rugby kits RFT deliver as well as the school uniforms, have been unpredictably .more than previous years.
The shows have been quite hectic and at present we are in the middle of London Fashion Week.
I have managed to write a series of articles describing how we won a contract against the multi-nationals, and at a price that ended up at double that of our nearest competitor.
There is an introduction to the articles in a blog on our site Putting the customer first works. which lays out part of the PDF quote, and is a relevant post to the fashion industry.
The first article Part 1 Dedicated Vehicle vs Groupage Load details the advantages we offer for a bespoke service compared to that of the multi-nationls we were competing aginst. The second article Part 2 The End User lays out the condition of the contract, and the stages we had to go through before we secured the contract. The final article due to be published next weekend outlines the arguments we used to procure the contract.
Although this article is typically aimed at the fashion industry, the methods we used can be adapted to any industry.
Looking forward to next year, apart from the shows which are booked every year, we are having clients asking us to store larger HGV vehicles on their premises in order to complete daily deliveries.
We have been involved with several companies when they have tendered for manufacture, importing and delivering new ranges. This has paid off with some deliveries next year booked in up to May 2014.
The new French Ecotaxe Deferred until the 1st of January, has been a problem, partly because of the extra cost involved, but mostly because it is not going to dbe a uniform rate for all the French National Roads, and the fact that there will be diferrent rates for the the Euro ratings and the number of axles as well as the gross vehicle weight. The Ecotaxe was due to start next month, to date the French Authorities haven't worked out the charges involved yet.
Have a look at the intro blog and the two articles then comment below.

UKplc a satirical comparison

UKplc a satirical comparison between a fictious company called UKplc , and the way the UK is mismanaged.
We set UKplc up with David Cameron as the CEO[ Managing Director], George Osborne as the Financial director, and the board of directors are the coalition.[I forgot Nick Clegg]
The Bank of England UKplc, the Auditors are the Treasury and The office of Budget responsibility, and the opposition could be the union.
The workforce is the UK poulation. At UKplc we charge anybody who is working for the priviledge, by taking a big slice of there earnings in the form of Income Tax and National Insurance contributions. Of also charge everybody tax on their homes, their workplace, and we have VAT on the money they spend. When they die after working to 70 year old, we claim more money in the form of inheritance tax.
There are many other methods of getting money from the population, far too many to mention in this article.
So the question is simple this. If this fictitious company UKplc increased borrowing, and decreased growth, would you sack the finance director George Osborne for gross mismanagement, and David Cameron for instigating the gross mismanagement?
The next question concerning the hapless duo is this. The biggest customer of UKplc is the Common Market, so why should UKplc want to leave it?
