Speed Kills: UK Gov Minister wants faster HGVs

Speed Kills: UK Gov Minister wants faster HGVs

The Coalitions Road Minister Stephen Hammond is planning to raise the speed limit for HGVs, which he claims will reduce congestion and would boost businesses by more than £30m a year.

Presumably the increased fuel the 280,000 HGVs [vehicles over 7.5t] would use travelling faster, would benefit the oil company’s revenues by £30m per year.
The speed limit for larger lorries could be increased, ministers say.
